Bowen Island

Today we took a bus from downtown Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. From here it was just a short 20 minute ferry ride to Bowen Island, a beautiful residential island in the middle of Howe Sound. Bowen Island has a population of just over 3,000 and 20 square miles of relatively untouched mature forest. The island has been welcoming visitors since the early 1890s and offers hiking trails, kayaking around Bowen Island’s sheltered bays, swimming at its sandy beaches, and boat moorings at the local marinas, a great day escape from the city.
