Let them eat cake

Every year my mum makes a Christmas fruit cake, and this year I gave a helping hand.

The faithful ‘Crank’s’ recipe that has been used for years

The fruit we used

Soaking the fruit in Sherry

Adding the nuts and dry ingredients

The cake mixture is placed into a baking tin and then it’s ready to go into the oven

The final result, a layer of marzipan and then chocolate, with a few mushrooms for decoration
