Store Love – Schoolhouse Electric Co

You may have seen a post I did a few weeks ago about one if my favourite British stores ‘The Hambledon‘, well, I’m continuing with the theme of stores I love and today I’m sharing some of my favourite products from the Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Company.

Between 1900 and 1950 schoolhouse-style shades and light fixtures were widely used in private residences and institutional settings, such as schools, galleries and libraries. And in 2002, owner and founder of Schoolhouse Electric Co Brian Faherty discovered a collection of original cast-iron moulds in an upstate New York warehouse. After being covered with layers of rust and dirt for over 60 years, the moulds were restored and returned to production. This collection represents some of the best examples of true American lighting design and is the inspiration behind Schoolhouse Electric Co.
