I just got back from a 4 day trip to Toronto with Antony and because I’ve been to Toronto before I thought this time I would share some photos of a few places we tried out for coffee and lunch that we really enjoyed.
George Street Diner
I wanted to visit this diner last time I was in Toronto but it was closed, so this time it was the first place we headed for. I was even more keen to go this time because I recently saw the film ‘The F Word’ which is filmed in Toronto and there is a scene where actor Daniel Radcliffe sits in this diner (sadly I don’t think we were sat in the same booth) but I had a really yummy Mac n cheese.
Dark Horse Espresso Bar
This coffee bar was just off Queen Street W, it was pretty hipster and seemed quite popular, and I can’t deny a cool company logo on a window draws me in every time! I think it was one of the best lattes I’ve had.
After drooling over countless images of food served at ‘School’ on Instagram it was definitely on my list of places to go for lunch. It’s located in Liberty Village near Toronto’s West Elm store, so the long walk was worth it to visit those two places. My only problem was choosing what to order, I finally decided on eggnog waffles with rum butter, luckily Antony choose my second option the orange marmalade french toast so I got to sample a bit of his too.
Fancy Franks Gourmet Hot Dogs
This was a place we came across by accident, we decided to head up through Chinatown towards Little Italy and knew we needed to refuel before getting our train back to Ottawa, when Antony saw this place from across the street his words were “mmm I could eat a hot dog” and again I loved the design on the shop window so we went in. The staff were so nice and there was so much choice for toppings on your hotdog as well as bargain $1.50 coffee and we even went back to the counter to order some mini donuts which they make fresh in front of you, ours were covered in cinnamon sugar and were only $2.50.
