Constable Country

A couple of weeks ago Antony and I visited Flatford which lies in the heart of the beautiful Dedham Vale. This scenic countryside was the inspiration for some of John Constable’s most famous paintings, such as ‘The Hay Wain’ and ‘Boat-building near Flatford Mill’ among many others. We followed a self guided trail around the area and whilst wandering beside the River Stour and looking at Flatford Mill and Willy Lotts House you can see that the landscape has barely changed since Constable was here in the 1800s.
