The Vermont Country Store

Pretty high up on my list of things to do whilst on our road trip through Vermont was go to a Country Store. There are quite a few of them to choose from, but this particular one that we visited I had seen mentioned many times in New England brochures. Founded by Vrest and Mildred Orton in 1946, The Vermont Country Store in Weston is the oldest restored rural country store in the United States, and today they are known around the world as being the ‘Purveyors of the Practical and Hard to Find’.

When we stepped inside I was completely blown away by how big the store was and how every inch of the place was filled with food and household goods. It was pretty overwhelming, we spent quite a while browsing around but we only bought some old fashioned sweets and some pumpkin spice biscuits for my sister, I definitely wish I had purchased a few more things. I’d highly recommend paying this store a visit twice, the first time just to wander and enjoy it’s old fashioned charm, and the second to buy all those household goodies that you never knew you needed.
