One of my favourite ice sculptures from the Ottawa Winterlude festival. The weather had warmed up slightly last week so sadly a lot of the sculptures had melted and collapsed.
Exploring Chinatown in Ottawa for the first time, we’ll definitely be back to try out some of the restaurants and grab a bubbletea when the weather gets warmer. We also found some great street art which you can check out on my Instagram account.
Usually I make the small, fat, ‘American style’ pancakes throughout the year, but when Shrove Tuesday comes around I prefer to make them crepe style with lemon and sugar which makes it feel more like a treat.
I saw this make up bag on the ASOS website a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It’s by a brand called Skinnydip which I love, I think it’s so fun, plus the Pom Pom is detachable so perfect to put on your handbag. So when ASOS sent me a 10% off code for my birthday of course I went and ordered it, I’m really excited for it to arrive this week.
I love it when small independent shops make an effort to be creative with their window displays. This is a card shop down the road from me called The Village Quire.
Antony bought a car, nothing too flashy but it’s so nice not having to borrow his parents cars and we’re excited to start planning some road trips
Kingston Town Hall, ON – Our first outing in the new car and we had such a great day visiting the first Canadian Prime Ministers home, eating grilled cheese sandwiches and taking ferry rides (more photos on Instagram)
Antony had his graduation this week and this was the outfit I wore – Dress from H&M (it was a bargain at $24.95 and I love that it has pockets), Earrings from Accessorize, Essie nail polish in Play Date to add a bit of colour
More bargains from H&M – I really wanted sunglasses with blue lenses and I love the shade of pink of this sunglasses case (both were $9.95 each). Also I’m so happy that the pool water is now at a bearable temperature so I don’t have to brace myself when I step into it
Can’t get enough of Tim Horton’s Iced Coffee, it’s my go to drink on a day out and I think I’m gradually working my way through every variety of donut they make, this one is the ‘Chocolate Cruller’ soooo good
Things have been a little quiet on here lately I’m afraid. The reason for this is firstly because I have been working a lot but I have also been busy making plans with Antony.
A couple of weeks ago he flew in from Canada and I met him at Heathrow Airport so we could travel up to Colchester together for a few days to see his family, we then caught a train back down to Devon to stay with my parents for two weeks. There will be a couple of posts to come about some of the places we have visited.
Finally, I have also decided to fly back to Canada with Antony next week and I will be staying with him in Ottawa for the summer.
Here’s some of the things I’ve been loving from the last couple of weeks…
Colchester Castle – The largest Norman Keep in Europe, constructed on the foundations of the Temple of Claudius, built when Colchester was the first Roman capital of Britain, and completed in around 1100
Colchester Zoo – It’s the biggest zoo I’ve ever been to and I was very impressed with the variety of animals they had. In this photo we are inside the lemur walk through enclosure
Searching for fossils in Charmouth on the Jurassic Coast – I was really pleased to find four small ammonites
Spring blossom in our back garden Cute Easter treats at Darts Farm, Topsham Downton Abbey is one of those series that I regret I didn’t start watching all those years ago, so I finally decided to rent the first series from the library and I’m really enjoying it Pretty pastel beach huts on the beach at Budleigh Salterton Feeling like a child again at the petting zoo in Trago Mills, the peacocks roam freely around the car parks and grounds of the retail outlet
The new Jo Malone section in Exeter’s John Lewis looking very chic and monochrome
Antony bought me this little tea light fondue set in Vancouver, I haven’t used it in a while and I forgot how handy it is when you fancy something sweet for dessert but you don’t want to go to the effort of actually baking something
I recorded the Super Bowl so I could skip through the hours of American Football that I’m not particularly interesting in and just watch the amazing Katy Perry perform the halftime show
Walking through parts of my hometown that I never usually go, and seeing some very pretty seafront buildings
