Pyjama Party

I came back over to Canada in May last year not knowing how long I would stay, and as the summers here get pretty hot I packed mostly thin silky nightdresses to keep me cool. It’s now February and we’re expecting temperatures to drop below -30 tonight and it’s safe to say I’ve been getting a little chilly at night, so I’ve been looking online a lot lately at pyjama sets. I like the classic long leg and long sleeve slightly masculine style sets but I’ve also seen some really fun patterned ones too, so I thought I’d share some of my favourites with you.

Things I’m Loving

One of my favourite ice sculptures from the Ottawa Winterlude festival. The weather had warmed up slightly last week so sadly a lot of the sculptures had melted and collapsed.

Exploring Chinatown in Ottawa for the first time, we’ll definitely be back to try out some of the restaurants and grab a bubbletea when the weather gets warmer. We also found some great street art which you can check out on my Instagram account.

Usually I make the small, fat, ‘American style’ pancakes throughout the year, but when Shrove Tuesday comes around I prefer to make them crepe style with lemon and sugar which makes it feel more like a treat.

I saw this make up bag on the ASOS website a couple of weeks ago and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It’s by a brand called Skinnydip which I love, I think it’s so fun, plus the Pom Pom is detachable so perfect to put on your handbag. So when ASOS sent me a 10% off code for my birthday of course I went and ordered it, I’m really excited for it to arrive this week.

I love it when small independent shops make an effort to be creative with their window displays. This is a card shop down the road from me called The Village Quire.

This may look like a Valentine’s gift guide…

…but I promise it’s not. It just happens to be a bunch of pretty pink things I like the look of, and it happens to be February. Thats all I’m saying.

Liberty Coin Purse – Comes in loads of different colours and also as a wallet, pouch, travel card holder, and other various sized bags

Herbivore Botanicals Mini Rose Face Mist – Always seems to be sold out online on the Sephora website, but it has great reviews and I also found it at Urban Outfitters

Topshop Sahara Cateye Sunglasses – I love the glamorous cateye shape and the contrasting blue tinted lenses

Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil – A gel lip balm with a deliciously sweet scent that softens the lips whilst adding a naturally coloured glossy shine with a barely-there effect

Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish in ‘Shape of my heart’ – The perfect soft blush pink shade

Diptyque Rosaviola Candle – Scented with delicate rose and violet perfume and packaging designed by accessories designer Olympia Le-Tan that you’ll want to keep forever

Heart Pom Pom Keyring – Adds an element of cuteness and fun to your handbag or keys

Ban.do Sip Sip Tumbler – This tumbler would definitely encourage me to drink more water

Happy Heart Porcelain Dish – Perfect for holding loose change or your collection of rings

Ban.do Peekaboo Folio – Now you can keep your documents beautifully organised and also add an individual touch with the included stickers

Cluse La Boheme Rose Gold Watch – Sleek and minimalist yet still feminine

Farewell January

It’s been a while. I haven’t posted anything on my blog since before Christmas, which I think is the longest period of time I’ve been silent on here.

It’s not that I’ve given up blogging, it’s more that I’m feeling the way a lot of bloggers feel at this time of year, uninspired and pretty unmotivated. I can’t say I’ve done anything recently worth talking about either. I had a nice Christmas with Antony and his family, it didn’t snow here until a few days after Christmas Day and it’s been cold, slushy, and slippery ever since which I get pretty fed with, I’d like to wear something other than snow boots.

If any of you watched Lisa Eldridge’s make up video with Alexa Chung I can definitely relate to what they call ‘winter face’ where you feel like you look grey and tired, and your skin is really craving some sunshine. I bought quite a few new makeup and skincare items with my Christmas money hoping it will perk me up (see photo below), but Antony and I have also found ourselves discussing the idea of living somewhere warmer for a year or two, maybe Australia, we’ll see.I do have one update for you, in December Antony and I moved out of his parents house and into our own apartment in Westboro, Ottawa. It was the only neighbourhood we looked at because it’s known for being quite young and trendy, it’s close to downtown, and there’s lots of shops, cafes, and restaurants right on our doorstep (I’m writing this sat in Equator Cafe, see Latte photo below).I haven’t shared any photos of the apartment because it’s tiny and we don’t have a lot of stuff here (most of my things are still at my parents house in England) so I don’t really feel like it’s worth showing you, plus, we don’t plan to stay in this apartment for long. Okay, here’s one photo of our bed, just because I love the Hudson Bay blanket my parents bought us and the SPRUTT white metal cabinet from IKEA that I store all my makeup etc in.I think that’s enough rambling for now. I just want to finish by saying I’m really happy it’s now February (my birthday month) and also roll on Spring!

All is merry and bright

Antony and I went to watch the Christmas sound and light show projected onto the Parliament building, it was very magical and I’d highly recommend it, especially if you have children
